Annette Kosak, Screams Of Consciousness: 2. Gaia (Capitulación del Pentágono), 2005

The opening party of Annette Kosak’s exhibition - the second stage of her collaboration with attitudes in 2005 - will set in motion a month of multidisciplinary events in our space in Geneva.

The azimuts programme replaces a scheduled exhibition by the French artist, Samuel Rousseau, cancelled due to lack of funding. In place of this show, we propose a profusion of activities branching in many directions, both in terms or artistic discipline and collaboration. During the month of April, we will play host to different actors from the Geneva art scene, notably two projects organised with the École supérieure de beaux arts, an international festival of experimental poetry proposed by the association Roaratorio as well as a round table discussion on experimental architect collectives, co-organised with the Haute école des arts appliqués. What’s more, Annette Kosak’s exhibition includes special guests such as Arnold Ives who will play the Theremin live on the opening night and Patrick Gyger, director of the Maison d’ailleurs, who proposes an evening of apocalyptic science-fiction films.

attitudes - contemporary arts space, founded in 1994, is an independent artistic structure based in Geneva. Under this name, we conceive and realise exhibitions and video programmes in our own space in Geneva as well as in other artistic contexts in Switzerland and throughout the world. We also organise performances and conferences, publish books and produce limited edition art work.

The attitudes programme is centred on the visual arts, but regularly opens itself to other disciplines such as performance, film, design, architecture, dance and music. Each exhibition is accompanied by a journal. This publication is designed to provide an autonomous creative space in which the reader can discover original contributions by the artists in the exhibition, as well as projects uniquely developed for this format.

In its ten years of existence attitudes has worked with approximately 300 artists, creating around 80 exhibitions and exhibition programmes, as well as more than 90 individual events. You can find documentation on all our activities, past and present, on our web site www.attitudes.ch. A 10th anniversary publication, including a previously unpublished image archive and a collection of newly commissioned texts, is planned to come out in autumn 2005.
